Sono venuta a conoscenza oggi pomeriggio della morte, ieri, di Nomita Chandy.

Nomita, insieme a Shanthi Chacko e Rama Ananth, avevano fondato Ashraya…ho avuto la gioia e la fortuna di conoscerla, come tante madri e padri che sono diventati tali, una volta superato il cancello d’ingresso di quell’isola verde in mezzo a Bangalore.

Qui vi lascio una sua intervista sui “bambini invisibili” e sulla cura necessaria dopo la loro uscita dalle cosiddette “case di correzione”.

In questi momenti non vengono tante parole; ricordi e immagini. E sono consapevole che l’emozione fa anche “scherzi strani”; alla notizia mio figlio ha detto di non ricordarsela, ma gli occhi brillavano e poi un “sì, mi ricordo”. Namaste, Nomita…grazie.

I learned this afternoon of the death yesterday of Nomita Chandy.

Nomita, along with Shanthi Chacko and Rama Ananth, had founded Ashraya … I had the joy and the good fortune to meet her, as many mothers and fathers who have become parents, once past the gate of the green island  in the middle of  Bangalore, as Ashraya is.

Here I leave a Nomita’s interview on the “invisible children” and care needed after their exit from the so-called “houses of correction”.

In these moments are not so many words; only memories and images. And I know that emotion make  also “strange jokes”; about news my son said he did’nt remember her, but his eyes were shining, and then a “yes, I remember.” Namaste, Nomita … many thanks.
